Cuentantón - San Antón
Oral Storytelling Festival
(Festival of Provincial Tourist Interest)
Cuentantón, the festival of the illuminated word, in which story and bonfire come together again.
Chelva has a unique event of its kind: the Cuentantón, the festival of the illuminated word, in which story and bonfire embrace again to remind us that it has been so for many many years. And let’s hope that it continues and burns as long as there is wood to burn and stories to tell.
It is celebrated around the weekend of January 17. The Festival was born from the hand of the Feast of San Antón, a very traditional winter festival in the Valencian rural world and celebrated by all the villages of the region of the Serrania. The hallmarks of this event are the fire and the neighborhood meeting, two elements that create the appropriate environment for oral storytelling, to share those words that we read, heard, or made up, an ideal scenario for the implementation of a cultural event that makes this festival and the municipality unique.
Held: The weekend near of January 17th.
